[24 Sep 2006|03:45am]
[ mood | 很忙 ]
[ music | Radiohead "Creep" ]

(Original full directions)

-------------------------------------------------

**Edit: I'm converting to dialogue format instead, as I apparently have to use that or a passge type thing. The information will remain the same, though.

Baby's translation:

I have to write this journal... directions from my dorm to the Del Monte Center. I already wrote some, but I'd like to write them again.

From the street in front of my dorm building, follow it to the end and head right. After you make one more right turn, head out of the gate and continue towards the bottom of the hill (this road is called "Franklin Ave."). You'll pass several bars, stores, etc. Drive down until the third traffic light, then turn right. Continue following the road until you see a sign with "Del Monte Center" written on it (on your left-hand side). Immediately turn left and you're there. Pretty simple, right?

Man... the Chinese is just so much more concise. Fuck English.

The Final Countdown [05 Mar 2006|05:01pm]
[ mood | anxious ]
[ music | Europe "The Final Countdown" ]

Well this'll be my last entry for... maybe a year or so? Whenever I build another computer at tech. school anyway. Thuy will keep the one here at the apartment, and I play to CREAAAAAATE one while off learning Chinese. I just don't know when.

To recap, I'll be going to the hotel on Monday, then catch the 6am bus to MEPS (Military Processing Station) on Tuesday to finalize my contract and do a last height/weight check, get bussed to the airport around 1pm, and fly out later on to Texas. Bootcamp will be about 6 weeks long at Lackland AFB in TX (I think near San Antonio), followed by about 2 years of technical schooling in Monterey, CA where I'll learn written and oral Chinese. Afterwards I'll head to whichever base I've been assigned to (hopefully the GA base) begin my work as a linguist.

I don't see bootcamp being a problem, other than the running. I mean, I'll be able to finish it, but in order to get honors (which I'm shooting for), you need some retarded fast times as part of the grade. Like 1.5 mile run in 8:58, 75 pushups in a minute, 80 situps in a minute, and 10 pullups (always curious why no one can fucking do pullups). So like I said, the running is really my only worry. I know I can easily work up to doing the pushups and such, it's just a lot harder to increase my endurance. However, I've never really ran distance consistently (only some short sprint type stuff in track), so I wonder if I am actually capable and just haven't had the proper environment to realize my potential.

At tech school I think I'll have fun. That's basically what I'm looking forward to and what will help propel me through bootcamp. Once there I'll need to have a few items shipped to me from Thuy so I have something to do in the offtime. My PS2, games, DVDs, etc. I'll buy a TV once there, and that really should be all I plan on buying, semi-major expense wise. I may also want my voice recorder to help practice pronunciation with my Chinese, but I don't know yet.

Anyway, take care and good luck everyone. I'll be back soon enough.

I love you, Thuy. :) I'll miss you, but know that I'm always here and always yours. MUAH!

Meme, as per Lee [12 May 2005|06:19am]
[ mood | calm ]
[ music | David Sylvian & Holger Czukay "Plight" (The Spiraling of Win ]

01. Reply with your name and I will write something about you.
02. I will then tell what song/movie/book reminds me of you.
03. If I were to apply an time of day to you, it would be...
04. I will try to name a single word that I feel best describes you.
05. I'll tell you the most memorable moment I've had with you.
06. I will tell you what animal you remind me of.
07. I'll then tell you something that I've always wondered about you.
08. Put this in your journal. (This is an instruction, not something I will do for you)
